Business rescue is a difficult concept to grasp, but Braam van Rensburg and Adriaan Smuts, directors of BVR Business Rescue make it very easy to understand. They put you at ease and provide hope for your business.

Braam has been engaged in the insolvency and liquidation industry for 29 years as attorney, business consultant, property valuer and auctioneer. Over the years he assisted numerous companies, many in financial distress, with restructuring, turnaround and financing.

Adriaan joined BVR Business Rescue in January 2014 and a year later he is one of BVR’s directors and shareholders. He specialises in amongst others, tax, accounting, auditing, business rescue, financial management and negotiation.

BVR Business Rescue was established to assist companies and their professional advisors to take full advantage of the business rescue proceedings in Chapter 6 of the Companies Act of 2008. “We care for our clients and our business. Our business is built on integrity, honesty, reliability and ongoing improvement,” says Braam van Rensburg.

Braam holds a BA(Pol), B.Proc and MBL degrees and is registered with a number of professional bodies such as Member of the Law Society of the Northern Provinces; Member of the Mpumalanga Law Society; Member of Turnaround Management Association of SA; Professional Valuer with the SA Council of Valuers; Member of the SA Institute of Valuers; Member of the SA Institute of Auctioneers; and Estate Agent with the Estate Agency Affairs Board.

In 2008 Adriaan was awarded the degree Bachelor of Accounting and Bachelor of Law, and in 2010, the degree Bachelor of Accounting with Honours, both from the University of Stellenbosch. Adriaan was admitted as an advocate of the High Court of South Africa in 2011 and was admitted as a member of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) in 2014. He is also a member of the Turnaround Management Association of SA.

The BVR team provide clients with various options and/or alternatives, administer the process and procedure for starting business rescue, handle the appointment of a suitable business rescue practitioner, oversee the rights of affected persons (shareholders/members, directors, creditors and employees), draft a rescue plan and oversee the implementation thereof as well as the procurement of post commencement finance. In a nutshell the facilitating, implementing and monitoring of the business rescue process is all handled under one roof.

What is the approach? Firstly, analysing the client’s company and its business, thereafter practical plans and strategies are identified, formulated and implemented with further monitoring thereof. Where appropriate, BVR will identify and instruct an independent and suitable business rescue practitioner with relevant industry experience, to guide and lead the company back on its path to success, alternatively securing the best possible outcome for all affected persons.

If you require assistance in the field of business rescue, be sure to contact Braam or Adriaan so that they can assess and assist you in the correct and most effective manner.
